Q: Do any of these need Wi-Fi or an app?

The S86WMUPR thermostat does, for app scheduling and IAQ control. The 76, 4655, 60 and 62 humidity controls are all standalone, with no app involved.

Which Control Do I Have?

AprilAire S86WMUPR: a full color touchscreen thermostat that connects to Wi-Fi and the Healthy Air app — not a humidity control, but runs any connected AprilAire IAQ equipment.
AprilAire 76: wall-mounted, digital, on/off plus up/down buttons — controls a whole-house dehumidifier.
AprilAire 4655: a plain dial with a Test/Reset position, no display — the simplest humidifier control.
AprilAire 60: digital display plus an outdoor sensor — automatically adjusts for standard humidifiers.
AprilAire 62: the same automatic, digital, outdoor-sensor design as the 60, built for steam humidifiers instead.

Which Equipment They Work With

AprilAire S86WMUPR

Any 24VAC residential furnace, heat pump, boiler, PTAC or fan coil system; optionally pairs with AprilAire humidifiers, dehumidifiers, purifiers and ventilators.

AprilAire 76

AprilAire E070KZ, E080KZ, E100KZ and E130KZ whole-house dehumidifiers.

AprilAire 4655

AprilAire 400/400M, 500/500M, 600/600M and 700/700M bypass and powered humidifiers.

AprilAire 60

Standard AprilAire bypass and powered humidifiers on a 24V AC control circuit.

AprilAire 62

AprilAire steam humidifiers, such as the 800 series, and any humidifier on a 24V AC control circuit.

AprilAire Humidity Control FAQs

How do I know which control I have?

Check the front of the unit: a plain dial with no display is the 4655; buttons with an LCD mounted on a wall is the 76 dehumidifier control; a digital display with an outdoor sensor wire is a 60 or 62, depending on whether your humidifier is a steam model.

Do any of these need Wi-Fi or an app?

The S86WMUPR thermostat does — it connects to the Healthy Air app for scheduling, remote access and IAQ control. The 76, 4655, 60 and 62 humidity controls are all standalone — dial or digital, with or without an outdoor sensor — with no app involved.

What humidity level should I run in winter?

Most homes land in the 30s to low 40s percent RH in cold weather. Back the setting off a step whenever you see condensation on windows.

Who do I call if something seems off?

I hired this HVAC team to handle air supply and return installation while finishing my basement, and they did a fantastic job.
