HVAC Information & DIY Safety Warning
The articles, tips, and guides on this website are provided for general informational and educational purposes only and are not a substitute for professional service. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems involve high-voltage electricity, natural gas, combustible materials, and refrigerants under pressure. Attempting to repair, install, or modify HVAC equipment without proper training, licensing, and protective equipment carries a real risk of electrocution, gas leaks, fire, or property damage.
Any reliance you place on the informational content of this website is at your own risk, and reading this website does not create a professional relationship between you and Rest Assured HVAC LLC. We strongly recommend that all diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs be performed by a licensed, bonded, and insured HVAC professional. To the fullest extent permitted by Illinois law, Rest Assured HVAC LLC is not liable for property damage, personal injury, or voided manufacturer warranties resulting from DIY repairs attempted based on information found on this site.
Third-Party Online Booking & Financing
Online appointment scheduling on this website is powered and hosted by Housecall Pro, a third-party platform. When you book a service online, you are interacting with Housecall Pro’s secure interface, which is subject to Housecall Pro’s own terms of service and privacy policy. Rest Assured HVAC LLC is not responsible for technical interruptions, data transmission errors, or scheduling issues that occur within the Housecall Pro platform.
Financing options and pre-approval applications referenced on this website are offered, processed, and administered entirely by independent third-party financial institutions. Rest Assured HVAC LLC is not a lender, does not make credit decisions, and does not guarantee approval or any specific rate or term. All financing terms, credit checks, and repayment agreements are strictly between you and the third-party financing provider, and we are not liable for any disputes, fees, or credit impacts arising from your financing application.
Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act Disclosures
The Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act (815 ILCS 513/) applies to residential work other than maintenance, service or repairs under $500. For work it covers:
- Consumer Rights Pamphlet: before you sign a contract with us for covered work, we will give you a copy of the Illinois Attorney General’s “Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights” pamphlet, which you can also read on our Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights page. On contracts over $1,000 we will also ask you to sign an acknowledgment that you received it.
- Written contract: for work over $1,000 we will give you a written contract or work order for signature that states the total cost, with parts and materials itemized.
- Insurance: Rest Assured HVAC LLC maintains public liability and property damage insurance in at least the minimum amounts required by Illinois law. A certificate of insurance is available on request.
Your Right to Cancel
These rights apply to any sale that qualifies, whether or not the Home Repair and Remodeling Act covers the work. They are described in full in Section 6 of our Service Terms & Conditions, and when one applies we give you a written notice and cancellation form.
- Sales made at your home (3 business days): if you buy goods or services of $25 or more from us at your home, you may cancel before midnight of the third business day after the sale, and we refund all payments within 10 business days after we receive your cancellation. The law excludes repair or maintenance work you asked us to come to your home to perform, but the right does apply to anything else we sell you during that visit, such as new equipment or added services, other than replacement parts used in the repair.
- If you are 65 or older (15 business days): where the sale was made at your home and resulted from a visit you did not invite, you have 15 full business days after signing to cancel, rather than three. An emergency waiver does not waive this right.
- Insurance-paid work: where your job will be paid from property insurance proceeds, you may cancel before midnight of the earlier of the fifth business day after your insurer notifies you in writing that all or part of the claim is not a covered loss, or the thirtieth business day after your insurer receives your proof of loss. We will give you the cancellation form. We do not pay or rebate insurance deductibles, and we do not act as your public adjuster.
- How to cancel: sign and date the cancellation form, or any other written notice, and mail or deliver it to Rest Assured HVAC LLC, PO Box 5440, Elgin, IL 60121-5440, or use our Contact page, before the deadline.
- Emergencies: if you need work started right away for a genuine emergency, you may waive the three-day right only by giving us a dated, signed statement in your own handwriting describing the emergency. We do not accept pre-printed waivers.
- No cancellation charges: no cancellation fee, restocking fee or non-refundable deposit applies to a cancellation made within any of these periods.
- Property outside Illinois: Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin give different or additional rights, set out in the state addenda to our Service Terms & Conditions.
This page is a summary. If it differs from our Service Terms & Conditions or the notice we give you, those documents control, except that you always get whichever deadline or method of cancelling is more favorable to you.
Mechanics Lien Notice
Illinois law requires us to give the following notice to the owner of an owner-occupied single-family residence before any payment is made. It also appears on your contract.
THE LAW REQUIRES THAT THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A SWORN STATEMENT OF PERSONS FURNISHING LABOR, SERVICES, MATERIAL, FIXTURES, APPARATUS OR MACHINERY, OR FORMS OR FORM WORK BEFORE ANY PAYMENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE MADE TO THE CONTRACTOR.
We may have lien rights under the Illinois Mechanics Lien Act (770 ILCS 60), or under the lien law of the state where your property is located, for unpaid labor, equipment and materials.
Permits, Licensing and Where We Work
- Permits: we obtain the mechanical permits required for our work, and the permit cost is included in your estimate. You are responsible for any homeowner association, condominium or landlord approvals, and for providing access for inspections.
- Licensing: Illinois licenses HVAC contractors at the municipal level. We hold the municipal licenses and registrations required where we work, and our license number for your municipality appears on your permit and is available on request.
- Certifications: our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling, as federal law requires.
- Outside Illinois: we perform work in another state only where Rest Assured HVAC LLC holds the registrations and trade credentials that state requires. State-specific terms for those jobs are in the addenda to our Service Terms & Conditions.
