What Actually Qualifies for ComEd
ComEd is stricter than most people expect, and a few conditions trip up jobs that otherwise look fine.
Trained contractor
The Installer
It must be installed by a ComEd Heat Pump-Trained Contractor. We are one. Self-installation doesn’t qualify, and neither does a contractor who isn’t in the program.
AHRI listed
The Listing
The equipment must be in the AHRI Certification Directory, rated under AHRI Standard 210/240-2024. Manufacturer marketing numbers aren’t enough.
700 GWP or less
The Refrigerant
Refrigerant must be at or below 700 GWP. R-32, which Amana and Daikin now use, is roughly 675 and qualifies. Under the EPA’s sell-through rule (40 CFR Part 84), remaining R-410A equipment became eligible on July 27, 2026. We confirm the refrigerant on your model before we quote it.
$75 bundle
The Thermostat
The $75 only applies if the thermostat is purchased from and installed by the heat pump contractor. Buy it yourself and submit online or by mail and it won’t qualify for the bundle.
There’s No Application to File
The discount comes straight off the invoice. We’re enrolled in both programs, which is what lets the discount be applied against the job rather than chased afterwards with a mail-in form.
